The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) warns consumers that electric utilities adjusted electric generation prices December 1, 2019 for default customers. With Pennsylvania being a deregulated state, consumers have the option to choose who supplies their electricity based on price and other factors. Those who do not, will receive default service from the utility based on the PUC approved electric generation procurement plan placing them into the default customer category. On December 1, specific electric distribution companies saw increases to their Prices to Compare (PTC) from as low as 1% and reaching 17% depending on the company.
The electric supplier companies impacted by these proposed changes in their PTC’s include:
- Met-Ed – $.062, 17% increase from $.05295
- Penelec – $.05998, 16% increase from $.05163
- Penn Power – $.07325, 14% increase from $.06427
- West Penn Power – $.05722, 0.035% increase from $.05720
With the falling temperatures and these recent PTC changes, it is the ideal time for consumers to shop around and consider an alternative energy source. Pennsylvania consumers can avoid the fluctuating prices of the utility pricing by contacting APPI Energy.
